Clausura 2012 Review: The Worst Chivas Of My Lifetime

April 29, 2012

Wow. I can’t get my mind around how absolutely dreadful this semester was. Guadalajara tanked in not, but two tournaments through yet another managerial shakeup. A loss to Pachuca ended the season on a 10 game losing streak (domestic league and Libertadores combined). A forgettable Clausura 2012 season has finally come to an end and, as painful as it is to remember what transpired, a summary of the deplorable events is after the jump.

So that's it right? No? There's one more game left in the season?

A Detailed Interview with Todd Beane

Todd Beane, International Director at Johan Cruyff Institute, took time to call into ESPN Deportes' Raza Deportiva for an interview that detailed what kind of changes to expect during this process most of us are eagerly awaiting. The full interview transcribed after the jump.

Nacho Ambriz Resigns

April 18, 2012

Yesterday's loss proved to be the straw that broke the camel's back. In a press release on the club's official site, Chivas announced that Ignacio Ambriz has opted to resign.

...Club Deportivo Guadalajara S.A. de C.V informs that after the analysis obtained from the institution responsible for Chivas' project, led by Mr. Johan Cruyff, it was determined that Ignacio Ambriz would remain as manager until the end of the Clausura 2012 season.

However, upon notification of this decision, Mr. Ignacio Ambriz declined this opportunity and opted to resign from his position as manager of Club Deportivo Guadalajara S.A. de C.V. as of today.

The press release goes on to inform that Alberto Coyote will manage the final two games of the season, and that the club will have a new staff in place sometime in the month of May.

This Has To Be Rock Bottom. It Has To Be.

Our Copa Libertadores run ended in a spectacular fashion earlier this afternoon in a catastrophic 5-0 loss in Ecuador to Deportivo Quito. Guadalajara will finish dead last in their group with a shocking goal differential of -10 the result of 1 victory, 1 draw, and 4 losses. Truly a sad day for those of us that have anything emotionally invested in this club.

Red cards for everyone! Chivas lost the match 2-1 in Nuevo Leon, but more importantly it lost 'Cubo' Torres, Marco Fabian, and 'Chapo' Sanchez to red cards so they'll miss the Clasico Tapatio on Saturday night. Although Atlas narrowly avoided relegation this year, it would've been nice to face them full strength. Instead, we're out of the running for a liguilla spot and we face our rivals with a crippled team.
